Sedation Options

Dr. Reyes holds the highest level of anesthesia licensing. We offer tailored sedation to ensure your complete comfort:

  • Local Anesthetic: For simple procedures, completely numbing the surgical site while you remain awake.
  • Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas): Relaxes you while remaining conscious. Wears off quickly so you can drive home.
  • IV Sedation (Twilight/Deep Sleep): You will be asleep and comfortable, remembering nothing of the procedure. Requires a driver.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do dental implants hurt?

Most patients report that placing an implant is easier than having a tooth extracted. We use advanced local anesthetics and optional sedation to ensure you feel no pain during the procedure. Post-operative discomfort is usually managed effectively with over-the-counter pain relievers.

How long is recovery from wisdom teeth removal?

You will likely experience swelling and mild discomfort for 3-5 days. Most patients return to work or school within 2-3 days, though strenuous exercise should be avoided for about a week.

How long does the All-on-4 process take?

The surgery itself and the attachment of your new temporary teeth are completed in a single day. You will wear these temporary teeth while your implants heal over 3-6 months, after which your permanent, custom-crafted teeth are placed.

Is IV sedation safe?

Yes. Dr. Reyes is a dual-degree surgeon (DMD, MD) extensively trained in hospital-based anesthesia. You are continuously monitored throughout the procedure using hospital-grade equipment.

Does my medical insurance cover oral surgery?

Sometimes. While dental insurance usually covers extractions and sometimes implants, medical insurance may cover procedures related to facial trauma, pathology, or severe infections. We will coordinate with both your medical and dental insurance to maximize your benefits.

How long do dental implants last?

With proper oral hygiene and regular dental checkups, a dental implant can last a lifetime. Summit Oral Surgery offers a Lifetime Implant Guarantee—if it fails within the first 5 years due to surgical factors, we will replace the post at no cost.
